Celebrating in May at Iten

We drove to Iten and had a celebration dinner
for Jon's birthday and Mother's Day
at Kerio View, a beautiful restaurant on the
edge (or escarpment) of the Rift Valley.  It is
much deeper than the picture shows.

Eldoret Street to Cheese Factory

These pictures make the street look good.  It is a
parking place for trucks in need of repair.  The
3rd picture is a path across the river from where
the guy came carrying the barrel.  Not sure what
he's going to do with it.

Kenyan Clouds

We love the beautiful cloud formations here,
unlike any others.  The first picture is taken
from our home.  The others were taken as we
drove back from Eldoret.  Notice how every
space in the field is planted with maize.

Roadside Views

-Making gravel by making little rocks out of bigger
rocks using a hammer.
-A truck stuck in the muck--not something we
like to see.
-A passenger truck?
-Three little friends walking along the road.
-An oxcart--a sure sign of good transport.

Spring Farm Scenes

Once a week everyone with cattle bring them to
a dipping vat to protect the cattle from ticks.

We love to see the oxen plowing in the fields
preparing them to plant the maize.

A Water Pump in Weybuye

Jon and President Shadrach Barasa demonstrate
a water pump used by several homes there.

In the bottom picture, Shadrach demonstrates how
to open a pop bottle using a coin.

Baptisms in Kitale and Misikhu

Elder Brown with new convert about to be baptized
and an 8-year-old boy at Kitale Branch

The next picture is Elder Mulima with two convert
baptisms--man on the left and the woman--at the
Misikhu Branch.

The two chickens perched in the tree attended the
baptisms in Misikhu.
