New Church Signs of the Times

Jon helped all the branches get the signs which had
been promised to them for the past 5 years.
He, along with Fred and Benson, the church guard,
made sure that they were installed as he delivered
them in our truck.  They were made by Fred, a church
member and a signmaker.  His 14-year-old son died
shortly after this from malaria.

The order of the signs is Misikhu, the new Misikhu
building site, Mautuma, Naitiri, and Skihendu.  The
Kitale sign was installed before these.

Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi

These baby elephants have lost their mothers to poachers,
accidents, or natural death.  When found they are brought
here, fed, and nurtured to be returned to natural habitat.

Elephant Parade Continues

These babies are less than 1 year old.  After they had
played around a little while, they were taken back
to their quarters, and an older group up to 3 years old
came out and got their bottles which they could even
hold themselves.  They are fed every 3 hours but only
once a day for observers.

Kazuri Bead Factory in Nairobi

The factory provides work for women to care for their children.

This machine compresses the clay from Mt. Kenya
to remove excess water.

Forming round balls from clay

Shaping the balls

Sizing the beads

On our way to shop

Jon likes all of them.

Johannesburg, South Africa

We attended a CES Conference in Johannesburg in March.
While there we were able to go to the Temple one afternoon.
The picture of the white brick is supposedly a brick from
the Nauvoo Temple, but we don't know the story.

We found a McDonalds and enjoyed it very much.

We spent some time with Ken and Janet Reber of the
South Africa MTC and also visited their facility.

Miscellaneous Places and Pictures

Jon stands in front of our room at The Noble.

The next 2 pictures show evidence of break-in of
President Kwendo's office.  The thief reached
through the window with a long hook and pulled out
a laptop from the desk.

Sibanda, Mulima, and Brown.

February Zone Conference in Eldoret

In February we attended Zone Conference in Eldoret.
These missionaries are the elders in our District in the Kitale
area.  President and Sister Broadbent are on the right.

Jon and I stayed at The Noble, a Christian-run hotel.
These pictures were taken of the acacia tree there.  The
thorns on it were as long as  toothpicks.

The Evidence!

The monkey came through the back door we had opened to catch
the breeze.  He came in, went down 2 hallways, into the
kitchen, and then the pantry.  He took the bananas from the blue
colander on the bottom shelf and helped himself to all 6 bananas.
The evidence on the floor is what he left when we startled him.
The cake was in the oven and when I took it out, it slipped and
fell on the oven door.  The elders ate it faster than the monkey
ate the bananas.  This was just the first day of our lockdown for
the election.
